You are a burned out intercessor! 😫
7 out of 10 intercessors are burned out. You don’t have to be one of them.
1 Availability: When your prayer life is driven by people’s requests, you create codependent relationships where people begin to depend on you instead of using the opportunity to depend on God. He is the only one who is always available for prayer requests. He never sleeps. He doesn’t need to. You do!
2Â Boundaries: You are anointed to be an intercessor, and the anointing is designed to attract and deal with problems. That same anointing also empowers you to say no when you need to. Maintaining healthy boundaries is good stewardship of your calling and will help keep you and your prayer life out of a casket
3Â Connectedness: Intercessors are some of the loneliest people on the planet. When you’re a prayer leader, people see you as the strong one. Many times that makes it difficult to ask for help or to find someone with whom you can be fully transparent. If that lack of connectedness goes unaddressed, it leaves an opening for the enemy to take advantage.
4 Needs: Helping others is good. But prioritizing the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual welfare of everyone except yourself is a sure way to burnout. Your own welfare must be a priority. That’s not selfish, it’s self-preservation, and it ensures the longevity of your intercessory ministry.
5Â Feelings: Burnout is the worst thing that can happen to an intercessor. Not only does it make you feel drained, but you also lose the joy of your calling. When that happens, prayer becomes routine and starts to feel like work. You can have a restful prayer life that leaves you refreshed and invigorated, and that’s what God wants for you.
